DESCRIPTION of DEPARTMENT:
The Human Resources Department plans, directs and coordinates all HR management activities to maximize the strategic use of human resources through the development and implementation of programs such as; compensation packages, recruitment, on-boarding, personnel policies, health and safety; benefit administration; and information management; by maintaining regulatory compliance.
PURPOSE of the JOB:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services the Human Resources Manager is responsible for the leadership of the Human Resources Department and its provision of Human Resources and Payroll Services. He/She is responsible for the management of recruitment and staffing; performance management and improvement systems; employment and compliance to regulatory bodies regarding employees; employee onboarding, development, needs assessment, and training; policy development and documentation; employee relations; compensation and benefits administration; employee safety, wellness and health. He/She is responsible for the management planning of payroll processes and systems in order to ensure payroll processing occurs in an accurate and timely manner. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management, Business and or Organization Development - CHIRP is an asset. Five years’ of progressive leadership experience in a Human Resource position. Including the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels. Knowledgeable with all aspects of employment law and HR and Payroll. Experience in the development and implementation of employment and payroll policies and procedures; experience at recruitment interviewing and assessment at a senior level; ability to work autonomously and flexibly; influencing, persuading, coaching skills. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; excellent planning and organization skills to meet deadlines; proficient in the use of MS Office applications, email and the Internet; excellent attention to detail; co-operative and supportive team player, a good working knowledge of HRIS systems; ability to create HR communications appropriate for the audience.
