VP People and Culture

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a responsible, motivated individual for the position of VP People and Culture. This position can be located in either Kenora or Thunder Bay, dependent upon the successful candidate.

Reporting to the CEO, the VP People and Culture provides strategic leadership and advice on all human resources and labour relations related matters including:

  • Participates in the development of corporate strategies and policies
  • Identifies short and long-term objectives
  • Designs and maintains the employee development system including orientation, training and development, performance management and recognition
  • Designs and maintains the employee maintenance system including records administration, compensation and benefits, succession planning, health and safety programs and employee relations
  • Develops and maintains the credit union staffing system including recruitment and selection
  • Ensures organizational process effectiveness

The Individual

  • Human Resources designation with Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration or MBA with 5-10 years of managerial experience in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated Human Resource Management and Labour Relations skills
  • Excellent organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; exceptional relationship management skills
  • Coaching, training and development experience, presentation/facilitation skills, business writing skills, change management skills, process improvement experience, project management understanding
  • Knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures, budgeting and training needs analysis
  • Knowledge of all related laws, acts and legislation
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • CHRP/CHRL an asset
