THE POSITION

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, Labour Relations (LR), the Labour Relations Consultant is accountable for related LR functions which support the College's strategic plan. The incumbent provides timely and professional advice and guidance to management and administration regarding LR issues and anticipates and ensures that managers are aware of College policies, procedures and legislative requirements pertaining to managing Labour Relations issues. The incumbent is responsible for interpreting and providing advice to all levels of management on matters pertaining to the collective agreements, including managing the grievance process and collective agreement compliance. The Consultant also provides support to the Chief Human Resources Officer as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 year post-secondary degree or equivalent in such disciplines as Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Relations, or Business with a HR/LR major
  • CHRL designation is desirable
  • 7 years Human Resources experience with at least 5 years in Labour Relations
  • Specialist knowledge in Labour Relations combined with significant experience/skills in Human Resources
  • Strong dispute resolution and negotiations skills
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and excellent communication skills required
  • Above average computer literacy is required
