Position Overview

A seasoned labour relations professional with exceptional people leadership qualities, this position will focus on:

  • People development and staff support;
  • Labour relations; and
  • Corporate human resources management.

Responsibilities

You are both a strategic thinker who can create a long-term vision for staff and you are an in the moment problem solver, looking for a path forward during grievances, mediations or while at the collective bargaining table. You have been the chief spokesperson/employer representative at arbitrations, grievances, the ORLB or the HRT and understand the legislative and regulatory context of labour relations. Solution focused, you know when to strike a deal and when to hold your position all while maintaining a respectful relationship with union representatives.

In addition to your strong labour experience, you also have experience in employee relations, recruitment, compensation and benefits, HR metrics, policy development and performance management. Leading a team of HR professionals, you are committed to supporting and developing your staff with feedback that encourages and enables performance excellence. You understand when to lead, to advise and to collaborate and adjust your style accordingly. You are a leader that inspires and motivates the people you lead with honesty and integrity. Your actions inspire others to learn more, do more and become more. You are continuously researching industry trends and looking for opportunities to deliver services which enhance the customer experience.  This is a Human Resources Department that is change focused.  Are you ready for change?

Requirements

You will have a four (4) year University Degree with an emphasis on Human Resources, Labour Relations or an equivalent professional designation plus a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior labour relations and leadership role. You will have expert knowledge in the principles and practices of employment law, performance management and compensation. To be successful, you will be excited about developing staff, be results driven and be able to plan and implement HR projects which improve on the services we provide.

Salary

$98,606 - $123,270 (Grade 13)
