The City of Thorold is accepting applications for the position of Human Resources Generalist. This is a non-unionized position reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer. The Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for providing guidance, direction and support on matters related to Human Resources Policies & Procedures and best practices, including but not limited to: Recruitment, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, Legal and Legislative Compliance, Corporate Health, Employee & Labour Relations, Employee Retention and Engagement, Organizational Performance and Effectiveness, Rewards & Recognition, Respectful Workplace Culture & Diversity, Organizational Development & Training and administration of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) employment records. The Human Resources Generalist will act with considerable independence, discretion, judgement, and initiative to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of services and resolution of employee administrative and organizational issues by providing accurate information and advice on policies, procedures, administrative and operational solutions.

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist role, in a unionized environment
3 years’ experience in HRIS administration in a municipal environment
Supervisory experience an asset
Demonstrated knowledge of organizational design practices and the ability to navigate an organization through change, and influence employee engagement and morale.
HRIS implementation/transition preferred
Advanced relationship management and consulting skills with proven success in building and maintaining positive and productive working relationships with all levels of staff, and a demonstrated ability to impact and influence all levels of management.
Ability to earn the trust/respect of the business groups and leaders team Advanced knowledge and understanding of HR processes and practices
Advanced presentation, written and verbal communication skills which bring clarity and precision at various decision-making meetings
Ability to lead and facilitate critical discussions ( e.g. leadership performance calibration, leadership talent roundtable) Able to deal with ambiguity, amongst multiple projects and competing priorities Strong diagnosis skills followed by good ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations for solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues
Strong project management skills and effective execution skills to ensure successful delivery/implementation of special initiatives, processes and Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills in handling sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
Proficient skill level with Microsoft Applications Presentation and leadership skills required.
Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) an asset
