Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Provide on-going support to employees by responding to HR and policy related questions, escalating as necessary
- Maintain employee files, both soft (HRIS) and hard copies in a timely manner, ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate and complete (new hire information, off-cycle salary changes, promotions, transfers, annual merit increases, benefits profile, terminations)
- Assist the Supervisor and/or Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator with the recruitment process, ensuring completed paperwork, following up with management as required, processing reference checks and pre-employment assessments, and responding to unsuccessful candidates
- Maintain an up-to-date procedural manual for administrative areas of responsibility (includes HR and Compliance website updates as required)
- Archiving of terminated employee, pay, benefit, tax & other related files, according to our records retention policy; transferring to on-site storage
- Coordinate training and seminars under the direction of the Vice President and/or Supervisor
- Create and maintain New Hire packages
- Process, track and file HR expenses, educational and membership reimbursements, ensuring they are coded to the appropriate expense code
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and productivity
- Other duties as required
Education & Experience
- Currently enrolled and completed post secondary education – college diploma/university degree
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on providing excellent customer service
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively deal with sensitive information
- Strong time management skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook)
- Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- CHRP designations is an asset(s)
- Familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce or similar HRIS software is an asset
- Bilingualism would be an asset
