What you will be doing:
This position is responsible for the planning and management of the day-to-day activities of the compensation team:
- Manage compensation programs for employees and executives
- Manage, and deliver flawlessly, all operational activities related to annual and mid year merit cycles and incentive awards for both broad-based compensation and executive compensation
- Maintain fiscal oversight for annual bonus accruals and allocations
- Oversee all elements of compensation market data including survey submissions and market analysis relative to internal pay practices, while balancing internal equity and external competitiveness
- Review salary ranges and recommend adjustments to align with market practices
- Maintain knowledge of market practices and emerging trends
- Provide expertise accompanied by analytics and reporting based guidance relative to our compensation structure to support Human Resources Business Partners and business leaders
- Manage project-planning components relating to compensation program revision and/or development together with systems impacts
- Provide further analytical expertise to support reporting to the Human Resources Committee, in the Annual Information Circular, and for other legislated requirements
- Ad-hoc compensation initiatives as required
- Coach and support the ongoing development of team members
- Nurture strong working relationships with internal partners to continuously improve processes and ensure clear and consistent communication and delivery of compensation programs
- Maintain working knowledge of legislation and their impact on existing and go-forward programs (pay equity, minimum wage, etc.)
What you have:
This position will be well suited to an individual with ~10 years of professional compensation experience, in progressively responsible roles:
- Demonstrated (minimum of 3 years) experience managing and developing a team of professionals
- Advanced knowledge of compensation principles
- Experience and comfort managing large scale data sets associated with a complex company structure with multiple employee profiles
- Track record of successfully administering large scale compensation programs leveraging systems both in steady state and changing environments
- Strong relationship builder with a penchant for collaboration, practicality and common sense
- Highly motivated and able to manage multiple deliverables through others in a high-intensity, deadline-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to influence significant decisions and manage change
- Tenure with a professional compensation consulting firm would be a significant asset
- Knowledge of Success Factors and Oracle would be an asset
