Highlights of the role include:
• Administration of the group benefits and pension plans for Diabetes Canada
• Support disability/leave management as the first point of contact for Diabetes Canada employees
• Coordinate onboarding and orientation of new employees
• Provide input into job evaluations; write and maintain job descriptions, prepare job postings, conduct reference checks and manage the offer process
• Execute the annual merit pay process
• Complete salary surveys and interpret and analyze the resulting data
• Prepare and analyze various reports, including headcount, turnover, employee demographics and recruitment, by consolidating data from different platforms into meaningful presentations
• Stay up to date with legislative changes and support the update of company policies and handbooks, training as requested
• Administer and monitor compliance with HR policies and procedures policies, and federal and provincial employment laws under the guidance of the Manager, HR; seek opportunities for continuous improvement
• Maintain, assign and track all required legislative training for all employees
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of system data while executing HR transactions in the HR information system; e.g., new hires, promotions, departures, and pay, title and reporting relationship changes
• Conduct exit meetings where appropriate and directed; participate in employee investigations
• Support other HR special projects or initiatives as needed
About You
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• 3 - 5+ years Human Resources experience with at least 1 year of benefit administration experience
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business or equivalent in a related field
• CHRP or in the process of achieving their CHRP
• Demonstrate knowledge and application of Human Resources practices, theory and relevant employment law
• Developed analytical skills and experience producing knowledge-based metrics reporting
• Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality and approach issues with objectivity, diplomacy and sensitivity
• Exceptional attention to detail and committed to a high degree of accuracy, with a keen sense of urgency
• Maintain an organized work environment and able to prioritize and multi-task a variety of tasks
• Able to deal with ambiguity, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in changing circumstances
• Embrace continuous improvement by proposing new and/or better ways of doing things, ability to think proactively and independently
• Possess in-depth computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint and expertise in advanced Excel functions
• Knowledge of HR information systems, especially Dayforce HCM, an asset
