We think innovatively and strategically to solve business problems and strive for operational efficiency and simplicity in the employee experience with HR. The HR Business Partner contributes to and leads execution of human resources strategies and tactics to support the needs of their business partners. They will serve as a consultant to business leaders on all strategic talent matters, diagnosing needs and increasing organizational effectiveness in areas including employee engagement, leader effectiveness, organizational design, learning needs/opportunities, succession planning, change management. They develop a deep understanding of the business, key performance metrics and trends, and work in partnership with other HR partners to deliver value added service that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HR Business Partner maintains an effective level of business literacy and acumen in order to adequately understand the business challenges and priorities of their business partners. They are the first point of contact for the business on strategic talent needs and work closely with the HR Consultants and teams within HR to support the attainment of strategic business goals.

 

What you’re responsible for:

  • Acts as a strategic business partner by providing consultation and advice on all aspects of HR strategic programs and practices in order to support business challenges and achieve strategic business goals. This includes activities in key areas such as employee engagement, succession planning, change management, organizational design, recruitment and selection of senior leaders, total rewards, workforce planning and analytics. Understand trends, determine impacts to business partners and make recommendations.

  • Diagnoses organizational issues that may be positively or negatively impacting the culture or performance of the business partner and recommends, facilitates, and supports the appropriate action.

  • Contributes to the development of the business partner plans by CMG (Co-operators Management Group) member and act as a conduit to HR leaders to facilitate the development of the HR annual plan including: Bi-Annual Review of key human capital metrics (Headcount, STD, Turnover, Retention of High Performers/Potentials, Hiring, Diversity, Performance differentiation, etc), strategic Workforce Plan, Talent/Succession Plan, Culture/Engagement Action Plan, facilitation of core HR Processes (goal setting, development planning, reward process).

  • Acts as a trusted advisor, coach and key resource to leaders and participates in business meetings to offer advice on people challenges and opportunities to support the division’s business plan, partnering with other HR areas when required.

  • Develops critical business partner relationships with all levels. Stays current on industry trends and cultivates strong external networks.

  • Shares observations and feedback on current and future needs of the business and contributes to the design and development of HR strategies, priorities, plans and interventions, ensuring alignment from a strategic perspective.

  • Leads, participates or supports enterprise projects critical to the business or HR.

To join our team:

  • Completion of Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of experience in any of the functional areas of Human Resources or an equivalent combination of business experience and education.Completion of CPHR designation.

  • Expert understanding of HR best practices in areas of Talent Management, Employee Engagement, Change management, Total Rewards, Organizational design, etc.

  • Ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have a process or a system in place.

  • Significant experience in consultation at all levels, and effective influencing skills. Ability to apply consulting skills to business challenges.
