Our client is looking for a Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist.

This full-time position is responsible for the effective staffing of our clients' company by ensuring that they attract, hire and retain the best employees.  This position also provides general human resources support and service delivery. 

Primary responsibilities focus on the planning and implement of recruitment initiatives, engaging candidates on a human level, creating a strong talent pipelines for our current and future hiring needs, performing initial onboarding for new hires and auditing turnover by completing exit interviews.  Secondary responsibilities focus on maintaining and application of HR policies, procedures and documentation.

This position requires outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to organize and prioritize daily workload, and the demonstration of creative thinking and proactive problem solving. 

Recruitment Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with Management, plan and implement the company talent acquisition strategy, including the development of policy for talent benchmarking, talent assessment and interviewing
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to forecast recruitment needs, work with the scheduling department to develop creative strategies to identify and source hard-to-find candidates
  • Conduct sourcing activities in order to fill open positions through various channels (e.g., job postings, local job boards, social media, and referrals, to effectively target the right candidates)
  • Lead company branding initiatives and serve as brand ambassador at various events (e.g., career fairs or on-campus recruiting events)
  • Build long-term relationships with potential candidate communities and sourcing partners to develop a pipeline of suitable candidates
  • Manage the entire application administration process (e.g., complete paperwork, screening, any company required assessments, appropriate background checks, VSC, reference checks)
  • Facilitate the recruitment process (e.g., determine selection criteria, qualify candidates through resume/application review, schedule and conduct interviews, support hiring managers through the process as needed)
  • Participate in hiring decisions, prepare job offer, counsel candidate on company benefits, salary, and corporate environment, and negotiate offers
  • Administer and submit all hiring paperwork for new employees, collaborate with payroll to set up new employee profile (e.g., Ceridian Dayforce, Scheduling System)
  • Track metrics that aid in continuous improvement, cost control, and hiring talent; provide report and suggest new ideas to management team

HR Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain up-to-date job descriptions.  Create for new positions, if required
  • Manage Uniform Program 
  • Complete initial orientation and complete checklists
  • Coordinate the absence management process, including identifying excessive punctuality and absence issues and advise management about how to address issues
  • Manage WSIB filings, communications, and assist in addressing disability claims and workplace accommodation requests
  • Assist Managers with consistent and fair application of HR policies, procedures and practices.  Assist with updating policies and procedures as required
  • Administer employee and management training requirements.  Maintain a log of completed training and expired credentials, as needed
  • Assist in preparing employee communications and documents, upon request
  • Liaise with external partners (e.g., lawyers, consultants, government officials, third party providers), as requested

Skills & Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience with full-cycle recruitment processes using various interview techniques and evaluation methods, experience with the security industry preferred
  • 2-3 years of HR generalist experience demonstrating solid background of HR best practice and legislative compliance
  • Human Resources Professional Designation (or in progress)
  • Able to organize and prioritize effectively to coordinate schedules, manage interviews, and maintain effective follow-through
  • Able to proactively network and continually seek new sourcing options for active and passive candidates, familiarity with online job-hunting websites
  • Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with candidates and to promote positive employee relations
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all sensitive employee data and records
  • Demonstrate decision-making, problem-solving and attention to detail skills
  • Experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
