POSITION:                  Payroll Administrator

REPORTING TO:        Payroll Supervisor

STATUS:                      Full-Time

LOCATION:                 Toronto, ON  

           

OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

The Payroll Administrator assist with, and support, US and Canadian payroll and, when required, assist with project-related financial reporting.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately enter, process and balance bi-weekly &/or semi-monthly payroll;
  • Process payroll information including, but not limited to, new hires, promotions/demotions, adjustments, salary increases, LOA and terminations;
  • Full cycle payroll, year-end & Workers Compensation reporting;
  • Distribute pay statements, ROEs and forms, as required;
  • Maintain employee payroll inquiry inbox – address and resolve all inquiries in a timely and professional manner; 
  • Serve as backup to Payroll Supervisor during vacation/absences;
  • Provide support for project work and other duties, as required.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED: 

  • Solid working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce HCM; 
  • General understanding of full cycle accounting processes and requirements as they relate to Payroll;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and a consummate multi-tasker;
  • Tech-savvy - quick to learn new software/systems related to accounting/payroll;
  • Ability to work under tight timelines and meet deadlines consistently;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Professional work ethic and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken);
  • A high sense of ownership, responsibility, sense of urgency, confidentiality, professionalism and data integrity; 
  • Genuine passion for teamwork and collaboration;
  • Fun, energetic with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and an insatiable desire to learn.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • 2-4 years’ direct, progressive Payroll experience (Canadian & USA) in a medium sized company (salaried, hourly, hourly with commission);  
  • Completed University degree or College diploma in Payroll, Commerce, Finance and/or Accounting;
  • PCP (Canadian Payroll Association) in progress or completed;
  • Experience working with Salesforce a definite asset;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel for v-lookups, macros, pivot tables, etc.) and other Windows applications;
  • Previous A/R or A/P experience an asset;
  • Experience updating processes and maintaining policies;
  • Flexibility of hours to accommodate business needs (i.e. month end, year end, etc.)
