Moffatt & Powell RONA requires a highly professional, organized and tech savvy individual to serve in the role of Human Resources Generalist (Junior). This role reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and will be a vital new role for the company; the successful incumbent will be highly supportive in achieving the company’s goals and initiatives.

SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist (Junior) will be responsible for providing support to the HR department in areas of recruiting, HRIS administration, payroll, onboarding, training, performance management, policies and procedures, health and safety, administration, communication and more. 

This position is a 15 month contract to cover a maternity leave.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. RECRUITING, ONBOARDING AND TRAINING

-To facilitate and organize new employee orientation and training with retail managers

-To create and initial benchmark and measurement to track employee retention and engagement

-Work with the HR team in support of the branch manager’s recruitment and selection needs

-Support and hold managers accountable to attain background and reference checks

-Collaborate with HR team with training program, development program and other initiatives

2. PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

-Coordinating the completion of all front-line (non-management) performance reviews and/or coach managers on the process

-Support the execution of documenting and collecting incidents of disciplinary action (one component of the Performance Management Cycle)

3. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

-Develop procedures for HR compliance

-Accountable for ensuring all policies are current, relevant and communicated to all managers

4. HRIS ADMINISTRATION AND COMMUNICATION

-Maintain and enhance our new HRIS program (Ceridian Dayforce) - HR information and payroll 

-Prepare formal HR and/or company communications to employees, partners, customers, business partners and other parties

-Maintain accurate and comprehensive personnel records

-Support the HR department in the development and documentation of HR and/or company policy and procedures; jointly accountable with the HR department for organization-wide compliance with policies, procedures and necessary regulations

-Assist with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and Return to Work (RTW) plans

-Support branch managers by answering questions about employees

-Ensure employees know where to find HR policies, procedures and other information

-Support social media and marketing related tasks

-Perform other duties as required

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

  • Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources OR no less than three years of experience in a HR role
  • CHRP designation is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with a Human Resources Information/Management Systems (HRIS) is an asset
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is desirable
  • Experience with payroll is an asset
  • Confident and competent navigating and adapting to new technologies, apps or software
