The Community Living Supervisor, Human Resources is responsible for assisting the Human Resources Director in managing Human Resources functions for the organization. Working under the guidance of the Director of Human Resources, this position is responsible for ensuring that quality Human Resource support is being provided while ensuring compliance with all applicable regional and provincial laws and internal Policies and Procedures.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work diligently to create a strong HR team by way of establishing team norms, goal planning, regularly planned meeting, effective communication strategies and conflict resolution skills
- Be visible and present with the purpose of observing and monitoring each area of responsibility (Recruiting, Training, Health & Safety, Benefits, Personnel) on a daily basis
- Analyze Health & Safety issues/trends and develop an annual strategy
- Completion of all Human Resources staff performance appraisals as per established deadlines and develop strategic plans to support each staff’s development by way of established goals.
- Communicate and implement HR initiatives and directions to management and employees as per direction from the Director of Human Resources
- Be a resource to other managers on a day to day basis, providing support and counsel on a broad variety of HR issues
- Be a resource to management and employees on time and attendance through our HRIS carrier
- Responsible for return to work meetings with employees and union representatives
- Provide employee relations support, including internal dispute resolution, policy/procedure and collective agreement interpretation, counselling and employee communications
- Identifying trends on performance management and advising Director of Human Resources
- Be knowledgeable of all applicable legislation/policies, Collective Agreement and consistently applies, enforces and seeks assistance where unclear or required from Director or Human Resources Department.
- Chair Joint Health & Safety Committee and spearhead Health & Safety Initiatives
- Identify HR operational trends with the Director of Human Resources and respond accordingly
- Responsible to monitor and track the discipline process
- Delivers presentations including training in HR related topics
- Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Post- Secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management
- A minimum of 5 years full time work experience in a Human Resources supervisory role
- Demonstrated ability to apply leadership, effective negotiation and delegation skills
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Proficient with PC computer environment; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Current valid First Aid/CPR certificate required
- Valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G) and insurance as well as access to a reliable vehicle
- Working experience in a unionized environment an asset
- CHRP, or CHRL designation an asset
