We are currently recruiting for a Senior Human Resources Manager to join our Hamilton facility.

The Senior Human Resources Manager will manage strategic and operational Human Resources issues within FELLFAB Limited and FELLFAB CORPORATION. This position reports directly to the President and he or she will have four direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Human Resources expertise in support of the business plan by developing policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement a Recruitment Strategy for Hamilton and assist with US hiring as required; update and maintain organizational charts for all locations 
  • Manage the benefit program for Hamilton; ensure the program remains attractive, competitive, and is provided is cost effective
  • Manage Short Term Disability (STD); substantiate absences and ensure employees return to work as soon as possible
  • Manage Long Term Disability (LTD); coordinate activities between insurance carriers, rehabilitation specialists, health care providers, and employees as required in support of the return to work process
  • Ensure employees receive annual performance reviews and are performance managed as required
  • Develop a training and development plan for employees in collaboration with each department manager
  • Develop and implement an attendance management system
  • Resolve employee relation issues
  • Meet quarterly as a team and develop action items that support the achievement of the business plan
  • Coordinate Company events
  • Develop an annual department plan and work to a defined budget
  • Develop workplace policies and procedures to ensure safe working conditions
  • Participate in annual Safety Groups and achieve financial rebates through project implementation
  • Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee and inspection processes
  • Ensure Supervisors are trained and competent under OHSA
  • Facilitate health and safety training including new hire orientation, due diligence, WHMIS, first aid and forklift certifications, and job specific safety training
  • Manage WSIB claims and ensure the return to work process is successful; reduce lost time injuries and ensure the Company is in a NEER rebate position
  • Be the point of contact for all Ministry of Labour site visits, inspections, and investigations
  • Act as a resource for health and safety issues within FELLFAB CORPORATION
  • Create a communication plan that supports our Vision, Values and Strategic Plan
  • Develop various channels of communication that target different employee groups
  • Manage succession planning and performance reviews
  • Maintain contact with US facilities on a weekly basis and provide overall Human Resources direction as required
  • Coordinate and lead other Human Resources initiatives as required including recruitment, training and safety 
  • Travel to the US facilities on an annual basis or as required and provide trip reports on assigned work

Minimum level of formal Education Required:                        

  • University degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Industrial Relations, or another related field

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Experience/Abilities Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience within a manufacturing environment
  • An in-depth knowledge of Human Resources programs, policies and practices within Canada and the United States
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and documentation
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership capabilities
