Sinai Health System was created in January 2015 through the voluntary amalgamation of Mount Sinai Hospital (acute tertiary care) and Bridgepoint Active Healthcare (complex continuing and rehabilitation hospital). The System was completed with the addition of Circle of Care (multi service home support services agency) as an affiliate.

In addition to the care delivery operations, the amalgamation brought together the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and the Bridgepoint Collaboratory for Research and Innovation.  Sinai Health System is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and includes the Mount Sinai and Bridgepoint Family Health Teams.
