We are currently recruiting for a HR Business Partner to work with Athletics and Recreation for this exciting opportunity. Are you a Human Resources professional with a CHRP designation? Do you possess at least 3 years’ of experience as a Human Resources generalist in a unionized environment? Do you possess a superior ability to assess problem situations, recognize issues and use good judgment to devise creative solutions that meet required standards? Do you possess an understanding of employment contract terminology as well as Ontario Labour and related legislation? If so, keep reading!

In this role, you will act as a consultant and advisor on a wide range of Human Resource and operational issues. The HR Business Partner is responsible for providing advice, leadership, guidance and consultation to management within the Department regarding organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, recruitment, job evaluation, employee relations, training, orientation, onboarding, health and safety and other employee matters including addressing issues of violence, harassment and accommodation of full time staff. The HR Business Partner is also expected to take a leadership role in HR business process review and change initiatives, including the related documentation of HR processes, creation of Standard Operating Procedures and assisting management in managing any resulting change that occurs from operational and organizational changes initiated within the department. The HR Business Partner is also responsible for ensuring that the Department has a comprehensive, sustainable, department set of operational policies and procedures based on best practices.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:

A University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in human resources. CHRP designation required. Formal training or certification in Project Management, and/or Change Management would be an asset. Health and Safety Certification would be an asset. In addition, the successful incumbent will possess three to four years’ related experience as an HR generalist in a unionized environment is required, working with collective agreements and providing advice on application, along with experience in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, training, health and safety, orientation and onboarding of non-academic staff.
