Human Resources Generalist

Over the years, our Human Resources team has worked to build strong relationships with our employees. We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist with a passion for people and the human resources profession. This individual has a knack for communication and a drive to contribute to Grip’s vibrant and creative culture.

Reporting directly to the Group Director, Human Resources, the HR Generalist will apply their knowledge of best HR practices to Grip Limited in the following areas;

Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for running payroll on a semi-monthly basis (outsourced model)
  • Oversee Grip’s benefit and RRSP program, including enrollment coordination and administrative requirements
  • Accountability for keeping Grip’s HRIS system (Workday) and Performance Management system accurate and up-to-date
  • Oversee Grip’s onboarding program, including coordinating quarterly employee orientation sessions
  • Working with the Group Director of Human Resources and hiring managers, leading recruitment efforts for open job requisitions
  • Working with the Group Director of Human resources, administer and manage the annual 360-performance review process
  • Working with the Group Director of Human Resources, managing the termination process including coaching management and preparation of termination materials
  • Conduct employee exit interviews, identify trends and put forward recommendations for improvement
  • Preparation of employee contracts
  • Manage Freelancer administration including coordinating approve requests and creating employment agreements and extensions in an accurate and timely manner
  • Lead GripDO, our cultural committee, and help plan staff parties, weekly staff gatherings, environmental and charitable initiatives
  • Lead the execution of Grip's annual Apprenticeship Program (Grip Orange Juicer)
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching for managers
  • Ensure programs and policies are consistently communicated (verbal, e-mail, intranet)
  • Assist with reception lunch hour relief
  • Assist with the design and implementation of ongoing HR projects

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 4 years overall HR experience and 2 years HR Generalist experience in a creative fast paced organization. (Preferably marketing, advertising or a related field).
  • Degree/Diploma in Human Resources and/or CHRP designation
  • Expertise in the areas of Health and Safety as well as Federal and Provincial Labour Legislation
  • Experience helping to design and implement strategic HR initiatives
  • Experience designing and facilitating training and development programs
  • Experience processing payroll, including remittances and annual reporting requirements (Workday experience considered an asset)
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and make presentations
  • Self-starter with the ability to initiate and develop activities. Strong sense of accountability and personal ownership for all areas of responsibility
  • Comfortable analyzing data, identifying trends and recommending actions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with employee and key stakeholders
