Senior Human Resources Business Analyst

This collaborative role is an important function in identifying HR business needs and supporting planning and decision-making at the Durham District School Board (DDSB). If you’re up to the challenge, read on.

Reporting to the Chief HR Officer, and demonstrating your expertise in information analysis, research and benchmarking, you will provide complex analysis and project support for a variety of HR and HR/Payroll initiatives and projects. This will include partnering with human resources, finance and IT specialists, and working closely with School Board partners, in identifying, analyzing and implementing business needs and processes, and in data collection and reporting to support business planning and decision-making.

More specifically, your responsibilities as a Senior HR Business Analyst will include:

  • Working with human resources specialists, IT specialists, finance, payroll specialists and end-user client groups to identify business concerns, analyze alternatives and create opportunities for collaboration, team-building and common understanding.
  • Working with multi-disciplinary stakeholders, to document current/desired state processes and collaborate on implementation efforts for operational changes.
  • Creating forms, processes and training materials to support efficiencies. 
  • Extracting required data to provide analysis and reports using HR data from a variety of stand-alone systems. 
  • Facilitating integration or bridging of stand-alone systems, where possible, to support efficiencies and streamlined business processes.
  • Carrying out analysis, design specification, testing, validating and implementing new software installations in conjunction with internal and external partners, and working with end-users and client partners to identify gaps and develop business solutions.
  • Liaising with external vendors to develop functionality that will align with organizational business processes.
  • Liaising with suppliers to determine root cause of issues and concerns, and identify solutions.
  • Developing dashboards to share relevant data.
  • Acting as internal consultant during creation and implementation of new software functionality.

 

Your profile as a qualified Senior Human Resources Business Analyst will include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Business, Information Management, Human Resources).
  • CHRL designation and management experience, an asset.
  • At least 7 years’ experience supporting HR/payroll systems, working in progressively more responsible roles in information analysis, research and benchmarking, and developing and analyzing complex reports.
  • Project Management or applicable project life cycle experience.
  • Understanding of application development and software development lifecycle concepts for collaborative solutions requiring custom development.
  • Experience working with K212, Parklane, AS400 and SFE, an asset.
  • Working knowledge of query tools (SQL and SQL Plus) and using databases in a business environment with complex datasets.
  • Experience using a variety of desktop computer applications to create a variety of documents and presentations.
  • Strong analytical, financial and research abilities, with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of staff.
  • Experience driving process improvement using Lean strategies or another process improvement methodology.

Salary range: $85,000 - $90,000 per year (under review)
