Director of Human Resources

Reports to:  Executive Director (ED)

Directly Supervises:  3 HR Managers, HR Administration Officer, Psychosocial Focal Point and other temporary positions such as Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Responsible Behaviour Focal Point and the local Project Manager for Symphony Implementation (HR Information System).

Position status:  Permanent Fixed Duration Contract (3-year contract, with option to renew for another 3, maximum 6 years), Full-time, 37.5 hours/week

Location:  Toronto (with regular travel to Montreal)

Salary: Starting $94,891 per year

Expected Start Date: May/June 2019

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Human Resources (HRD) is a strategic partner that drives culture and people strategies to ensure the long-term people needs for MSF Canada to achieve its strategic objectives are met. The HRD is also a key member of MSF Canada’s Senior Management Team, and a contributor to the International group of MSF HR Directors globally.

Leading a dynamic and multi-faceted team of 15 permanent staff across Toronto and Montreal (team can include up to 30 people including interns and temporary contributors to specific projects), the HRD will oversee the people activities and foster a positive and dynamic HR environment. Responsibilities include delivering excellence in talent management, championing MSF Canada's employment philosophy, and strengthening an inclusive culture where people are highly engaged and able to contribute in meaningful ways to MSF Canada’s support to the global mission.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and people-focused leader, with excellent emotional intelligence, relationship-management and networking skills, and the ability to represent the people strategy of MSF Canada within both internal and external networks.
