Surrey Place provides specialized clinical services that are responsive to individual's needs and promotes health and well-being in the Toronto region. We help children and adults living with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and visual impairments reach their full potential. We offer a variety of groups and workshops for clients, families and caregivers, as well as extensive education and consultation services to community agencies.

Our comprehensive programs and services range from assessment, diagnosis, and one-on-one treatment, to family counselling and group support and is provided by a broad network of clinicians and professionals. Surrey Place is accredited with Accreditation Canada and is affiliated with the University of Toronto and other academic institutions and is a teaching site for students in a variety of health care professions.  

Surrey Place employs nearly 500 employees.  We are a unionized workplace, with 12 locations in the GTA and we also provide video-conferencing services to communities in northwestern Ontario.

Position Description: 
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting a client group of employees and managers across our 12 offices in Toronto. Partners with managers and staff at all levels, this role will provide high quality and proactive full-cycle recruitment support to ensure organizational goals and values are realized. 

Main Responsibilities: 
• Brings value-added professional HR advice and counsel to leadership in areas of recruitment and support in other areas such as employee and labour relations, HRIS Management and Pension and Benefits administration.
• Provides advice and coaching to Managers, pro-actively identifies and executes recruiting strategies to fill critical positions and understands future talent requirements.
• Manages full-cycle recruitment including: develops job descriptions; creates job postings; post vacancies; screens applications; conducts interviews and prepares offers.
• Manages the employee on-boarding process which includes conducting new hire orientations. 
• Enhances the development and presentation of recruitment metrics for Programs and the Agency. 
• Leads and implements HR process improvement strategies that are aligned with the organizational strategic direction of Strengthening Our Capacity.
• Organizes and leads employee recognition events and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:   
• Minimum of 2 years progressive Human Resources generalist experience. 
• A university degree and post graduate certification in Human Resources Management. 
• Developed knowledge in all HR areas; particularly in talent acquisition.
• Thorough knowledge of employment and related legislation i.e. Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
• Highly organized self-starter with a demonstrated ability to multi-task priorities and assignments.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with poise and diplomacy, can be counted on to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and ethics.
• Ability to occasionally travel within the GTA.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office. 
• The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening).
• Fluency in French is considered an asset. 
• Membership in good standing with the HRPA and CHRP and/or CHRL designation is considered an asset.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $54,805- $64,476 per annum.  In addition, Surrey Place provides a Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), a comprehensive group benefits plan and a very competitive paid time off plan.
