This is a two-year contract working for a rapidly growing, Canadian company.

Reporting to the Managing Director (MD) and managing one direct report, the Human Resources Manager (HRM) is responsible for all Human Resources, Health & Safety and payroll related functions. As a member of the senior Management team, the HRM acts as a strategic partner to the business while supporting mid and senior management in all aspects of recruitment & selection, performance management, employee relations, training & development and all other HR aspects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning and execution of HR strategy
  • Mentor the HR coordinator and ensure all administrative functions are completed accurately and on time
  • Provide leadership and strategic advice related to all program areas of HR including talent strategy and management, workforce planning and succession, learning and development, performance and recognition, employee engagement, total rewards and more
  • Partner with management on decisions related to hiring, terminating, compensation and performance evaluations
  • Provide employee relations support, including conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary action and performance improvement counseling
  • Evaluate the status and effectiveness of HR programs and recommend changes to improve culture, efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Manages disability claims (STD, LTD, WSIB) by liaising with employees, line managers, insurance companies and/or government bodies to facilitate return to work opportunities and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Design and implement HR systems, programs, processes and policies that support the company‚Äôs strategic direction consistent with legislative and regulatory standards as well as high standards of professional practice
  • Lead the recruitment process of Managerial and corporate positions
  • Identify training needs, track performance, coach and motivate employees
  • Review payroll on a bi-weekly basis to ensure accuracy of payments
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of the annual conference and Christmas party
  • Leads the bi-annual performance review and compensation review process
  • Responsible for the management of the Learning Management System (LMS)

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • A minimum of 7 years progressive HR experience with comprehensive knowledge and strong experience in managing various HR functions
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources Management
  • Have or working towards a CHRP/CHRL designation is considered a strong asset
  • Experience processing or managing payroll would be considered an asset
  • Experience working in a retail environment will be considered a strong asset
  • Strong knowledge of labour and employment laws, including, but not limited to: Employment Standards, Human Rights Code and OHASA
  • Strong communication skills including demonstrated ability to persuade, influence and build consensus
  • Demonstrated ability to think, act and speak strategically
  • Able to effectively and quickly build trust-based relationships
  • Flexible, results oriented and able to deliver to timelines and budgets
  • Accurate and detail oriented with a strong business acumen
  • Act with discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
