Renison University College, affiliated with the University of Waterloo, and located on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Attawandaron (Neutral) peoples, invites applications for the full-time, contract position of Human Resources Officer.  It is expected that the contract will be 14 months in duration.

Objectives:  The Human Resources Officer reports to the Director of Human Resources & Infrastructure and is primarily responsible for the administration and implementation of human resources functions within the organization including contract administration, recruitment and selection, performance management, onboarding, health and safety, and employee relations. The incumbent is this role will respond to inquiries and work collaboratively to support a positive working environment that supports and reinforces the mission and values of Renison University College. Additionally, the incumbent will represent Renison in a manner consistent with the values, goals, and strategic directions of organization.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Post-secondary education required and related experience required.  A CHRL designation is required.
  • Previous experience with payroll entry and processing is an asset.

Experience:

  • Experience gained in a Human Resources department environment, preferably in a post-secondary setting
  • Demonstrated experience drafting employment contracts
  • Demonstrated experience processing and reconciling payroll along with understanding of related processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact tactfully with students, faculty, staff and other internal departments providing strong customer service
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Professional, diplomatic, with ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Highly detail oriented, with an aptitude for accuracy
  • Effective organizational skills, with the ability to work with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment and decision-making
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; and knowledge of employment websites
