The University of Ottawa has more than 8,000 employees and approximately 42,000 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at one of its 10 faculties. The University needs a leader, consultant and strategic partner in the field of human capital to improve organizational performance.

The Associate Vice President plays a key role in shaping the vision, the mandate and the overall direction of the University’s Human Resources Department, and therefore works closely with the executive team. This person also acts as a consultant and strategic partner, implementing an institutional human resources management framework for the entire campus. Reporting to the Vice President, Resources, the Associate Vice President, Human Resources should be well-versed in strategic planning, organizational development, talent acquisition, labour relations, optimization of processes and performance indicators, managing change, total compensation and occupational health.

In order to meet both current and future challenges, the selected applicant will bring significant leadership experience in human resources management to the post, as well as in-depth knowledge of the issues facing large, complex knowledge-based organizations. This proactive self-starter has a proven track record in a setting that defines teamwork and the collegial decision-making process as the key components of success.

This exciting opportunity is intended for a highly reputed, talented HR management professional who is ready to leave his/her mark on a major institute of higher education. The ideal applicant has 15 years of experience in a human resources management leadership position, a graduate degree, a professional human resources designation and effective communication skills in both English and French.
