POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Manager, HR Business Partner Services, the Labour Relations Coordinator supports activities integral to labour relations and the administrative processes involved with the collective agreements at the College. Working alongside HR Business Partners and the HR Leadership team to align strategic goals, this position is responsible for scheduling, attending and supporting labour management meetings, workload monitoring group meetings, union meetings and supporting management activities relating to the work of these committees. This position will also support in the set-up and maintenance of new elements introduced through the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) to align ongoing HR initiatives and programs.

The Labour Relations Coordinator role is responsible for the following areas: communicating and coordinating HR and labour relations activities across the college; preparing and delivering training modules related to collective agreement administrative processes (i.e. standard workload forms (SWF’s) and salary calculations); gathering, maintaining, tracking, and analyzing HR and labour relations data; HR file management; adhering to administrative obligations under the collective agreements within the College; providing support and guidance on the Banner SWF system to internal stakeholders; supporting day to day SWF functionality, identifying gaps based on operational needs, and suggesting system enhancements; and developing and leading training activities when onboarding new end users.

Duration of Need: One year

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful incumbent will hold a Degree in Human Resources or equivalent, a CHRP or a post graduate diploma in HR Management, and a minimum of two (2) years of HR Services experience. The successful candidate will have advanced computer skills with a strong understanding of and experience in using Microsoft Excel at the advanced level with the ability to understand and extract relevant data. The ability to demonstrate an understanding of HR Business Partner relationships, College policies and procedures, and the application and interpretation of collective agreements are required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with union representatives, along with other stakeholders. Moreover, the candidate must exhibit: empathy, confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy; strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills; problem solving/resolution; time management; sound judgement; and research skills related to labour relations and human resources.
