If so, the People & Culture team at Toronto Police Service is looking for you to be part of the exciting introduction of a new HR Business Partnership team.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, HR Business Partnership, you will be responsible for delivering HR expertise and guidance to people leaders in an assigned client group, focusing on the strategic people challenges impacting the unit and/or team. 

As a trusted advisor to leadership, you will drive the achievement of business objectives through a people perspective, serving as an advocate, catalyst and champion of HR strategy, talent programs, organizational values, culture and overall HR service delivery.

What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Develop and maintain effective business partnerships with assigned senior leaders in order to understand their people management needs, and develop appropriate HR solutions, services and supports to achieve business outcomes
  • Develop strategies to resolve identified and anticipated HR issues, and maintain an understanding and knowledge of clients’ business strategies to facilitate HR partnership and guidance
  • Use workforce data to formulate people insights, workforce plans and recommendations that support information-driven and impactful leadership decisions
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager, HR Business Partnership to continuously improve HR service delivery, by generating insights on improvement opportunities and sharing internal and external leading practices with the rest of the HR Business Partnership team
  • Provide leadership and direction to HR Advisors to ensure delivery of seamless, high-quality HR services that incorporate solutions from all units within the People & Culture pillar
  • In partnership with People & Culture team members, facilitate the provision of cross-functional specialized services, handling highly sensitive and confidential employment situations, including, but not limited to, complex medical accommodations, disciplinary and performance redeployment, grievances, and human rights complaints

Key Qualifications:

  • Degree in a field related to Human Resources or Business, combined with a minimum of seven (7) years’ HR business partnering experience, with both strategic and operational responsibility, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience driving the people agenda for large, complex business units, within a highly unionized environment
  • Seasoned HR professional who can demonstrate relationship management ability and influence in leading, planning, and executing complex, strategic HR and people-related initiatives
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a superior ability make things happen through the use of impact and influencing skills
  • Ability to think strategically and a proven track record of implementing scalable solutions that meet current and future business needs
  • Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to bring a collaborative approach when working with team members in the development and execution of solutions
  • Confident, decisive, resilient, comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Strong communication skills, communicating with impact and credibility
  • Ability to take ownership and accountability for people initiatives and issues
  • Skilled at leading organizations through change, with experience with organization design principles and approaches
  • Advanced consulting and facilitation skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to model and support the core organizational values & competencies
  • It will be considered an asset if you have any of the following:
  • Graduate degree in a field related to Human Resources or Business
  • HR Professionals Association designation
  • Change Management Certificate

Salary range: $115,728 - $133,972 per annum
