Hours of work:          8:30am-4:30pm, 35 hours per week. Extra hours and or weekends may be required on occasion.

Location:                   Newmarket, York Region. Travel to other sites within York region may be required.

Job Profile:

We are looking for a Human Resources Coordinator/Recruiter to help manage the high volume, day-to-day recruitment efforts and strategies in support of our continued growth.  We are seeking a resourceful, self-motivated individual with an energizing personality who will work alongside other human resource professionals within the Workforce and Culture team!


  • Partners with hiring managers to understand business and role requirements.
  • Responsible for full cycle recruitment for all types of positions including entry level positions to management positions.
  • Delivers an exceptional client and candidate experience.
  • Develops effective recruitment plans to attract and identify qualified candidates using various recruitment channels and methodologies.
  • Develops proactive sourcing methodologies to attract both active and passive candidates and create a talent pipeline.
  • Upholds the integrity of the recruitment process and ensures a bias-free and fair selection process taking into account organizational policies and legislative standards. 
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders including a high level of communication on the process and status of open positions.
  • Stays informed on trends, best practices, legislative updates and their impact upon attraction and retention.
  • Prepares and analyses data that assists in continually improving the recruitment process; identifying trends; recognizes challenges and recommends effective strategies.
  • Organizes and carries out orientation process for new employees and off boarding of exiting employees.
  • Produce ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Participates and supports the workforce and culture team in ad-hoc related human resource projects/tasks.
  • Participates in various organizational committees.

This position reports to the Senior Director of Workforce & Culture or her/his designee.



  • Post-secondary university degree, or college diploma, or college certificate with an emphasis on Human Resources or Organizational Behavior.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience including creating job postings, intake meetings, initial phone screenings, face to face interviews, providing recommendations, negotiations and presenting offers and reference checking.
  • Comprehensive understanding and ability to apply employment legislation including ESA, OHRC, AODA.
  • Knowledge and experience in behavioral event interviewing and competency models, administration of assessments/scoring tools, recruitment metrics, and “best practice” recruiting methods including social media, Applicant Tracking Systems, and non-traditional sourcing of candidates.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving, and ability to recommend solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity and to use consultative and relationship building skills with diverse client group.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with hiring managers and other stakeholders.
  • Is proactive, takes ownership of responsibilities and shows initiative.
  • Proficient in computer use, i.e. Microsoft Office software and HRMS
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage own workload and meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high performing team-based environment.


  • Recruitment experience in a corporate environment, preferably in a public sector an asset.
  • Previous experience working in fast paced organizations that have experienced significant growth and change.
  • Evidence of working towards Certified Human Resource Professional designation
  • Previous work experience in a health care environment

Working Conditions:

Office work, attending meetings, supporting HR team members as and when required.
