Our prestigious downtown Ottawa client is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist to fill an 18-month contract. This multi-faceted and stimulating position is the perfect opportunity to gain experience and get your career moving in the right direction.

In this role, you will manage and/or support global corporate compensation and job evaluation programs. 

The Senior Human Resources Generalist's duties will include: 
*Acting as the Human Resources first point of contact for client groups
*Assisting with the development, implementation and administration of HR programs and policies
*Maintaining a detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and the organization?s HR policies, providing guidance on their application.
*Supporting all components of recruitment efforts 
*Providing onboarding and advisory services to employees relating to payroll, benefits, retirement and pension entitlements and options
*Developing and expanding the onboarding and intranet information ensuring accuracy, consistency and availability of program, policy and procedure information
*Assisting with cross-border immigration activities
*Assisting the Manager, Human Resources in conducting a review of payroll and team analysis or documentation 
*Acting as the back-up for ensuring all employee records within the Human Resources Management and Time Reporting Systems are complete and accurate. Running vacation and absenteeism reports as required 
*Preparing ad hoc workforce metrics and analytics as requested.
*Participating in and supporting ad hoc special projects.
*Support other HR functions as required
*Perform other related duties as required


The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
*Post-secondary education in a relevant field
*HR designation an asset
*Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as sound knowledge of HRMS and other HR systems
*Solid knowledge of human resources practices and legislation
*Advanced communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
*Solid analytical experience, problem solving skills and strong attention to detail
*Highly organized, flexible and demonstrated ability to take initiative
*Ability to work independently and deal with sensitive and confidential matters
*Strong project management skills including planning, prioritizing and the ability to multi task
*Experience working with HRMS and business intelligence reporting tools and strong desire to work with technology
*Ability to work a flexible work week which may include scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required
