As a result of a promotion, the City of Burlington is looking for a specialist in the area of Organizational Development (OD).  In this role you will lead the implementation of effective OD practices, programs and processes in leadership, talent management, change management, employee engagement, and organizational design.  To be successful, you will utilize change management leading practices to support organizational change.

This position develops, leads and/or sponsors the following programs for City of Burlington employees:

Succession Management;

  • Leadership Development;
  • Corporate Annual Training;
  • Toastmasters;
  • Learning Library;
  • Grow, Learn & Discover Team; and

Staff Education Assistance.

You will lead the initiatives that reinforce the required competencies, skills and culture and that help achieve the City of Burlington’s strategic goals.

You will be comfortable designing on-line learning and delivering in-person training and, to support these activities, you are able to develop and maintain relationships with staff at all levels, as well as universities/colleges, and external training vendors. You will have experience managing and tracking a budget and are able to take on the role of system administrator for the learning management system - OTR.

A university degree in Organizational Development, Adult Education, Human Resources, or a related discipline is required. A certificate/qualification in leadership development, adult education, facilitation, Myers-Briggs, or organizational development are all considered assets in this role. You have proven experience in learning & development, facilitation, project management, system administration, and change management in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines. Strong time management skills will be essential to ensure programs are delivered efficiently and effectively. A focus on customer relationships, both internal and external, is vitally important to the success of this role.
