Position: Employee Relations Case Representative - Human Resource Services (Temp)

Work Location:  Education Centre Aurora (60 Wellington Street West, Aurora  L4G 3H2)

Work Schedule:  35 hours/week

Thank you for your interest in the Temporary Employee Relations Case Representative - Human Resource Services position with the York Region District School Board. Reporting to the Manager Employee Relations, the Employee Relations Case Representative is the first point of contact for case management of labour relations matters.  The Employee Relations Case Representative manages the Employee Relations Database, directories and files; assists with contract administration and assist in negotiation;. In addition, the Human Resources Officer will provide support as required for the labour team. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

To be the point of contact for case management of labour relations matters, dealing with Principals and Superintendents. To liaise with legal counsel for scheduling and information. To attend and provide support during negotiations, and provide materials management. To assist with providing support for labour relations concerns related to school lunch assistants and casuals. To coordinate with the Children’s Aid Society regarding complaints, investigations and outcomes. To maintain grievance files and ensure responses to the union are within timelines. To conduct Ontario College of Teachers hearing schedule tracking. To participate in investigation meetings including taking and managing notes. To prepare collective agreements.  To prepare and run reports ensuring accuracy of data provided. To anticipate and manage emerging and potential sensitive issues. To set up for meetings and ensure equipment is provided. To interact with union and federation leaders. To maintain the confidentiality of staff personnel records. To communicate and deal effectively with Superintendents and Principals to resolve outstanding labour matters. To perform other duties as assigned.  

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

A three year college diploma in human resources management or a related discipline is required or equivalent, as approved by the Board. Minimum three years human resources or related experience is required. Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal and computer skills are required. Attention to accuracy and good analytical skills required. Knowledge of HRIS and database management preferred. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within and outside the Board is required. As needed, work hours may extend beyond regular business hours to meet deadlines.
