Job Details

Coordinate and manage effective recruitment and selection processes to attract the most qualified talent possible ensuring recruitment and selection best practices and policy/collective agreements are followed. Manage and facilitate job evaluation to ensure jobs are appropriately classified and job descriptions accurately reflect the responsibilities of the position. Coordinate and facilitate training and development opportunities for City employees. Provide advice and guidance to Managers and Supervisors related to labour relations functions as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience normally associated with completion of a post secondary program in Human Resources plus 3 years of related experience.  Must have a general knowledge and understanding of HR functions, with emphasis on recruitment and job evaluation.  CHRP designation would be an asset.

Working knowledge of employment and labour legislation (e.g. Ontario Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Act, the Ontario Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act).  Ability to interpret and apply collective agreements.  Demonstrated work experience providing coaching and advice.  Well developed administrative, organizational and time management skills.  Flexible in meeting the demands of a heavy workload and can work independently or as a member of a team.  Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal, analytical and research skills.  Proficient in the use of computer applications such as advanced word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.  A demonstrated commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
