Winpak Portion Packaging Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of quality rigid plastic packaging for the food and beverage industry, located in the northwest area of Toronto.  Winpak operates unionized facility working 24 hours, 7 days per week.   We are currently looking for an experienced HR/Payroll Coordinator.

Basic Function:

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR/Payroll Coordinator is primarily responsible for administering the hourly payroll, company policies and the union contract at the plant level.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Produces the weekly hourly payroll, including monthly reporting, garnishments, EHT, Union due payments, terminations, pension contributions, short term disability adjustments and year end.  
  • Plans and prepares the weekly manning schedule for the plant.
  • Administers various hourly control systems in accordance with the collective agreement including progression increases, seniority lists, etc.
  • Responsible for all hourly recruiting.
  • Employee relations.
  • Day to day management of the uniform program.


  • College diploma in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Designation in Payroll and/or HR or working towards completion.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll principles and related legislation including experience working on various payroll platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills in all Microsoft applications.
