The Opportunity

 

An ideal opportunity to make a meaningful impact, leave a lasting legacy, build trust and differentiate the organization as a employer.   In this newly created role you will be expected to champion and implement HR best practices and play an integral role in a cultural transformation.  You will work closely with our team to understand their needs and be a trusted advisor. There will be day to day HR administration, and your primary role will be to set up the organization with HR practices that can be maintained after your contract has concluded.

 

The candidate will provide the daycare Supervisor with HR expertise / strategy and guidance, and work together as a team to create a meaningful, progressive and innovative work culture.

 

This role is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic individual who is people-oriented, possesses excellent influencing skills and loves project work.  Working independently, this role does have access to a Senior Strategic HR advisor and legal expertise to help craft policy and procedures.

 

The Reward

 

The contract is for 6 months, working between 20-24 hours per week.  There is flexibility on the work dates and times, as well as the flexibility for dual work locations - daycare center and home.

What will you do?

 

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this newly created  role:

 

  • Reporting directly to the Supervisor, this role will provide advice, guidance and support to the entire daycare team in all HR-related areas (employee relations, performance management, training and development, disability management, etc.);

     

    Research, and coordinate training opportunities for team members

     

    Support Supervisor and Team Members with the interpretation and refinement of policies and procedures;

     

    Review and make recommendations for leave programs - Parental Leave, Family Emergency leave, Sick leave etc.  

     

    Provide support in the implementation, communication and administration of recruitment, onboarding, training and the performance management program

     

What type of experience  do you have?

 

  • Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources                                     

     

    5+ years human resources experience with a focus on Employee Relations - ideally a Generalist or Business Partner role

     

    CHRP designation considered a definite asset.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

     

    Strong computer skills-Microsoft Office products and HRIS system experience

     

    In-depth knowledge of human resources policy and practice.  Proven ability to quickly interpret and explain relevant employee legislation.

Located in the Casa Loma neighborhood of Toronto, the employer provides a quality child care in a warm, nurturing environment for children ages 2½ to 12. Summer camp programming is available for the community.  Located near Wells Hill Park, Wychwood Barns, Hillcrest Park and Sir Winston Churchill Park. Just a 5 minute walk from the St. Clair West subway station. The daycare continues to evolve and is looking for an experience HR Generalist to provide recommendations and support.
