HR Recruiting Representative, Human Resources

Salary Range $79,047 - $83,949

Note: Temporary opportunity from 6 to 12 months in length

Position Requirements

  • Completed university degree in Human Resource Management, or a related diploma/degree coupled with a completed post-graduate HR Management Certificate.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience in full-cycle recruitment and selection, as well as exposure to HR processes.
  • Professional accreditation as a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant labour legislation, Employment Standards Act, AODA legislation.
  • Experience working with collective agreements in a unionized environment preferred.
  • HR generalist exposure to other HR processes and disciplines an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in developing and conducting all aspects of a search assignment.
  • Experience with behavioural and values-based interviewing and selection techniques.
  • Proven ability to complete a multitude of tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation related to employment.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite as well as other software applications; PeopleSoft or other HRIS experience an asset.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid Class “G” Driver’s License.

Position Scope

The duties for this position may involve but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining service-wide recruitment programs and initiatives; responsible for all aspects of a civilian hiring competition file from initial posting and associated tasks to the concluding paperwork and communication.
  • Coaching hiring managers on the recruitment process and interview techniques; lead the interviews to ensure a positive candidate experience and to ensure effective, consistent and transparent recruitment techniques are employed.
  • Preparing, scheduling and facilitating the new employee orientation.
  • In collaboration with other units and staff, developing standards and marketing opportunities for recruitment initiatives; may assist in developing brochures, publications, online content.
  • Acting as the point of contact for internal and external inquiries related to job postings and other recruitment initiatives.
  • Maintaining professional contacts and affiliations internally and externally to promote recruitment initiatives; recommends and attends various recruitment and professional events to promote York Regional Police as an employer of choice.
  • Coordinating, developing and administering the tracking of recruitment and retention data and metrics, prepares reports and analysis to identify trends; providing recommendations and conclusions as appropriate.
  • As part of the recruiting team, participating in various civilian initiatives including, but not limited to the Summer Student Program, Youth in Policing, Community Living programs and internships.
