Global Human Resources Manager

Acting as a key member of the Human Resources Department, the Global Human Resource Manager will have broad oversight of all essential HR-related tasks and responsibilities of the company’s numerous locations across the globe, specifically in the United States.  This position will be responsible for supporting global HR needs by working with local management and seeking global HR solutions that honor regional requirements and local culture and are aligned with corporate policies.    Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, responsibilities for the successful incumbent will include, but are not limited to;

  • PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT including;
  • Administration and Maintenance of performance management programs across all locations including training sessions, as required
  • Summarize and present results to Management and Executives
  • Recommend improvements

 

  • RECRUITMENT including;
  • Provide guidance, support and expertise to local Office Managers for all recruitment-related needs and queries
  • Create a template for executive hires
  • Create global employment contract templates
  • Liaise with local recruitment firms

 

  • EMPLOYEE RELATIONS including;
  • Provide guidance, support and expertise to local Office Managers for all employee relations needs and queries, including dealing with difficult employee situations, high-risk terminations, performance improvement plans and workplace investigations.

 

  • POLICIES & PROCEDURES including;
  • Ensure corporate and local employee handbooks, policies and procedures are up-to-date and effectively communicated across all global locations
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity, sexual harassment, violence and harassment in the workplace
  • Provide recommendations and suggestions for improvement to policies and procedures
  • Establish a travel policy and ensure it is applied appropriately

 

  • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS + PAYROLL including;
  • Administer global compensation and bonus programs
  • Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies and processes to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal local requirements
  • Maintain pay equity plan in Ontario and ensure compliance with pay equity legislations globally
  • Act as back-up for payroll for the Burlington Office, when necessary

 

  • TRAINING & EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT including;
  • Analyze training needs to design employee development, training and health and safety programs
  • Set up and administer training policies and work with local managers to ensure it is implemented
  • Coordinate training initiatives globally

 

  • COMPLIANCE – Legal / Health & Safety including;
  • Maintain a good understanding of local laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, and government regulations
  • Maintaining policies to ensure local legal compliance
  • Carry out regular follow-ups and compliance checks with the Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Coordinate the application process for immigration work visas, travel letters and work with immigration lawyers
  • Oversee Health and Safety compliance globally, liaise with external Health and Safety experts when needed

 

  • MANAGEMENT REPORTING including;
  • Create and administer global employee database
  • Maintain records and compile reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates
  • Centralize and maintain personnel files
  • Work with local managers to maintain clear records of headcount including additions, departures and prepare reports on a monthly basis
  • Regular updates of information spreadsheets such as employee contract details, HR file contents
  • Create and maintain Organizational Structure Charts
  • Report to local Managers on various HR metrics including turnover and selection rate
  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources, including experience with USA Human Resource Practices
  • Minimum CHRP designation
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Results oriented; demonstrated success in overcoming obstacles, maintaining timelines and budgets
  • Accomplished communicator; able to produce expert technical papers, publications and design reports
  • Self-starter; able to seize opportunities with minimal direction; Team player and quick to deliver
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, growth oriented organization
  • Demonstrated dedication towards the safety and well-being of others
  • Able to handle sensitive and/or confidential information with tact and discretion
  • Effective problem-solving skills

Desired:

  • Experience with general Human Resource in the United States
  • Experience with administration of HR policies and Procedures in the United States
  • General knowledge of US Employment Laws and regulations
  • PHR, SPHR designation
