Human Resources Consultant

Full Time, Contract up to 12 months

$77,209 to $94,757 per year

 

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive Human Resources partnership to designated client groups utilizing a collaborative approach to support, counsel, and coach managers and staff on all Human Resources matters.  The Human Resources Consultant will promote employee engagement, mediate employee disputes, conduct internal investigations, full cycle recruitment, support the development of appropriate organizational/employee development programs and work collaboratively to develop/revise job descriptions. This position partners in the research and development of new and current Human Resources policies and best practices.  The incumbent will be instrumental in fostering a sense of collaboration and teamwork while promoting the Town as a preferred employer. 

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have formal post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent, combined with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated senior generalist experience in a unionized environment. You have experience in providing comprehensive guidance on employee and labour relations (including collective agreement interpretation), performance management, full cycle recruitment, return to work programs, HRIS maintenance, reporting and data analysis. You also have thorough working knowledge of human resources practices and relevant legislation (i.e. ESA, OHSA, Human Rights, etc.).  You are able to effectively build meaningful relationships with staff of all levels and consistently provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers and the general public. You demonstrate excellent interpersonal, mediation, project/time management, analytical, research, report and policy writing, presentation, facilitation, problem-solving, organizational development and coaching skills. A CHRL designation and/or Public Sector work experience are considered assets. 

Police Criminal Record Check
