Reporting to the Chief Change Officer, the Director of the Centre for People and Organizational Development (CPOD) acts as a strategic business partner and advisor in the areas of employee and organizational development to the Sheridan community and leads the CPOD team. The incumbent advances the Strategic Plan, People Plan and Sheridan’s reputation as a leading employer. The Director engages the business in deploying employee and organizational development programs and services in the portfolio, enhances capacity to attract, develop, engage and retain top talent; aligns and strengthens talent at all levels, enables compliance with regulatory and contract terms, and facilitates transformation to deliver on Sheridan’s vision and strategic goals.

Using a consultative client service model to provide expertise and guidance to leaders across Sheridan, and the CPOD team, the Director is accountable for strategy, systems, and resources in the portfolio areas which include: 
•    Organizational Assessment, Design & Development 
•    Employee Development and Career Planning 
•    Change Leadership 
•    Succession Planning and Competency Management 
•    Leadership Effectiveness and Management Skills Development
•    Performance Management 
•    Employee Engagement 
•    Legislative Learning Initiatives

Specific Responsibilities:
•    Works collaboratively as a member of Sheridan’s leadership team with a view to the effective overall service delivery model for organizational development (OD), employee/talent development, and People Plan strategy and initiatives.
•    Steers culture and capability building to align with vision.
•    Leads a team of CPOD professionals who, as strategic business partners, provide OD consulting, technical advice, and other OD resources to support business and academic leaders on a broad range of portfolio issues.
•    Assesses/diagnoses organizational needs; designs, develops, implements and evaluates targeted organizational and employee learning, development plans, and interventions.
•    Establishes talent development and career planning models and programs that develop needed skills across Sheridan.
•    Works with senior leaders to design and implement effective processes that align with organizational priorities.
•    Facilitates proactive development of organizational capabilities in anticipation of business changes.
•    Leads development of succession planning strategy, systems and processes (e.g., talent pipelines, career paths, preparation of successor candidates).
•    Oversees development and implementation of programs and resources that build leadership and management capabilities across all levels.
•    Advises on performance alignment and employee engagement; implements and develops related activities.
•    Provides operational leadership of CPOD Department: Provides inspirational, results oriented leadership and guidance to team and builds professional capacity and engagement; optimizes team and individual performance through effective talent acquisition, workflow/project planning, employee development, and performance management.
•    Monitors, analyzes and optimizes service performance and ensures fiscal and physical resources are used effectively.
•    Other related projects and initiatives.

Qualifications 
•    Master’s degree, Adult Education, Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, HR, or related field.
•    A minimum of 9 years of related experience, including management experience
•    An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
•    Certifications such as: Certified Organizational Development Specialist (CODP), Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP), Credentials in Adult Education or Organizational Development or Coaching are desired; 
•    Highly developed leadership experience formulating and implementing strategic OD initiatives in areas of: individual and organizational assessment, change leadership, employee engagement, leadership and team effectiveness, management development strategies, succession and career planning, employee development, performance management;
•    Experience with organizational change leadership – inspirational leadership, illustrating the ability to foster collaboration and motivate stakeholders through innovative change;
•    Experience at a senior level in strategic planning, program planning, development and implementation;
•    Knowledge of current HR and OD trends, regulations, processes;
•    Experience coaching / training HR partners and operating managers;
•    Research, analytical and problem-solving skills (including statistical analysis and interpretation);
•    Strong business acumen (including budget);
•    Leadership skills with an ability to mobilize action and engage others; ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments;
•    Original thought and creative issue resolution;
•    Effective interpersonal and communication skills – including influencing, presentation, facilitation, negotiation and process consultation;
•    Strong relationship building skills - team and customer service orientation;
•    Proven success at building professional credibility and reputation for results at all organizational levels.
