    Description:  

    The Respectful Workplace Advisor (RWA) will support the review, implementation and application of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board Policy HM11: Policy Against Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace. In doing so the RWA will utilize the policy and procedural guideline to advise and assist employees to address issues, concerns and complaints that have relevance to the policy.  

     

    The RWA will advise and support Senior Administration regarding employee wellness initiatives, liaise with pastoral services including the Adult Faith Animator and the Employee Assistance Counsellor, as appropriate, and address complaints as per the Board’s Policy, Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). 

     

    Specifically, the Respectful Workplace Advisor will:  

     

  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding the Policy Against Harassment and Discrimination and Bullying in the Workplace; 
  • Provides consultation, manages and investigates complaints pursuant to the Policy Against Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace; 
  • Manages reviews of the policy and the procedural guidelines including monitoring legislative and policy development in areas related to human rights, OHSA, equity and inclusion etc.; 
  • Provides Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services as appropriate, including facilitating/leading mediation sessions; 
  • Assists in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of programs and activities aimed at improving employee health and wellness; 
  • Provides leadership, training and coaching; 
  • Liaises with Senior Administration, Human Resources staff, Employee group leadership, etc. regarding policy implementation and responsibilities in the area of harassment, discrimination, human rights and wellness initiatives; 
  • Works in consultation with the Employee Assistance Program to facilitate services for those employees requesting or in need of services; 
  • Develops and delivers educational training regarding the Policy Against Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace, the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Ontario Health and Safety Act; 
  • Maintains records and service statistics; 
  • Other duties as assigned  

      

    Experience and Qualifications:  

  • Post Secondary Degree in one of the following areas: Social Work, Human Resources or related discipline with at least 7 years’ relevant field experience in human rights policies and practices, conflict resolution and investigation;  
  • Certification in Alternate Dispute Resolution is an asset; following one of the areas: Post-Secondary Degree in Social Work, HR Management or related field with at least 7 years’ relevant field experience.
  • Expert knowledge and application of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Ontario Health and Safety Act;  
  • Experience in coaching, counselling, mediation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution, including but not limited to a demonstrated ability to conduct fact finding analyses and investigations in dealing with and resolving complex complaints and/or conflicts between individuals or groups;  
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including delivering workshops for groups of people;  
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team setting;  
  • Leadership experience and a high level of personal integrity;  
  • Proficiency in MS Office software applications;  
  • Valid Driver’s License;  
  • Exemplifies ethical leadership and witness to Catholic values.

    Salary:  

    PASS Job Grade 9 - Professional Administrative Support Staff (PASS)  

    ($84,362 - $105,274)
