The People and Culture Generalist supports all functional areas of HR to ensure people strategies are aligned with strategic business plans.   The People and Culture Generalist manages the recruitment process from end-to-end while delivering best-in-class candidate experience. The People and Culture Generalist builds relationships both internally and externally to foster a strong talent pipeline and enrich the employee experience to support growth and change. The People and Culture Generalist is an enthusiastic, positive, and resourceful self-starter who takes the initiative to continuously seek opportunities to enhance employee engagement and culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and management of HR policies, programs, and initiatives.

  • Manages full cycle recruitment: post vacancies, source, screen, schedule and conduct interviews and assessments, conduct background checks, and prepare and extend offers.

  • Develops ongoing pipeline of qualified candidates by building and maintaining relationships with candidates, employees, vendors, university and college officials, etc.

  • Supports employee engagement and training initiatives which include delivering new hire orientations and training, and coordinating employee recognition program.

  • Coordinates performance management process to create and maintain a high performance culture, which includes ensuring reviews are completed.

  • Responds to employee and manager inquiries related to policy interpretation, processes, and programs; escalates matters as required.

  • Provides HR administration for compensation management, promotions, departures, etc. and ensures consistency.

  • Creates, maintains, and updates HRIS/employee files while ensuring security, integrity, and confidentiality of data.

  • Administers group benefits plan, responds to employee inquiries, and supports disability/RTW processes.

  • Tracks key HR metrics; compiles reports and provides recommendations as assigned.

  • Prepares payroll and benefits reports for finance department and provides updates as required.

  • Participates on committees such as health and safety and social events to drive engagement and/or to ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Keeps current with relevant employment-related legislation and HR trends and best practices to ensure relevancy and compliance.

  • Performs other related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline.

  • Minimum two years of previous experience in a generalist capacity. Experience in a technology environment an asset.

  • CHRP/CHRL designation or in progress required.

  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation including employment law, human rights, health and safety, and privacy.

  • Strong working knowledge of human resources policies and best practices.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate when necessary.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).

  • Strong interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.

  • Adept in dealing with sensitive and highly confidential HR issues with tact and discretion.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to run reports, analyze data, and provide recommendations.

  • Demonstrated experience using HRIS and recruiting tools, including LinkedIn.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Google Suite (especially Google Sheets and Google Calendar).
