The Global Training Manager designs, develops and delivers global learning curriculum for customer facing, technical and general support roles within a wide range of internal and external programs in Canada, the USA, the UK, Continental Europe, India, the Middle East and Asia.
The position is based in Toronto with occasional travel requirements.
In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:
LEARNING PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
- Plan and oversee all on-line, live and virtual training programs in operations, business systems, sales and sales support, and general business learning opportunities
- Work with HR, functional and line leaders across the organization to understand business needs
- Ensure course content in the Armstrong Learning Academy is kept relevant and current; review and determine the most appropriate mode of delivery depending on course content and attendees
- Work with SMEs to improve the delivery of programs through coaching on adult learning techniques, presentation style, program content management, session follow-up, etc.
- Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) contract and relationship
- Produce and analyze executive reports on usage and effectiveness of training programs
- Develop a Manager’s Dashboard for tracking training assignment and completion
TRAINING MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT
- Develop technical training materials for sales, technical support employees and business partners such as 3rd party representatives, consulting engineers and contractors on our products and service offerings
- Create and deliver training materials for business system training (ADEPT Quote and Select, Infor LN and CRM)
- Support learning activities around our sustainability and energy upgrade initiatives
- Work with SMEs to continuously evolve the Armstrong Learning Academy curriculum
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Develop and execute Armstrong organizational development programs such as Onboarding, Values immersion, Learning Curve, Skills Protection Program, etc.
- Work with all regional HR managers to action individual development plans
Role Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent with appropriate training credentials
- Global experience managing training programs in multiple countries
- 15 + years of training and development program experience, preferably in an engineering-based product company
- Demonstrated knowledge of training program development, facilitation, and content management
- Creative problem-solving skills, conflict management within different organizations (centralized and matrix organizational structures)
- Ability to break down complex problems in a simplified way, conduct root cause analysis and provide clear, well thought-out recommendations.
- Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action.
- Self-directed with ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and a focus on results.
- Ability to communicate in an open and authentic manner in all situations; a second language is a definite asset
