Cardinal Meats Specialists Ltd. is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to be based at our Brampton office.

If you have a manufacturing background with a minimum of 3 years’ Human Resources experience in a production facility, and an innate ability to instill a sense of urgency and drive problems towards resolution in all areas of HR through strong teamwork, we invite you to join our team.

THE POSITION

The role of HR Generalist will facilitate the implementation of effective human resources practices to foster and maintain a productive, diverse and engaged workforce.  Using a “hands-on” approach, the incumbent will support the company’s activities to achieve the required operational results through effective management and execution of HR policies and programs. This position reports to the Director-Human Resources.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Live  our Core Values
  • Be a frontline contact for all employee relations inquiries
  • Coordinate the Cardinal recruitment process, including Induction/Orientation and Onboarding of new hires
  • Advocate and provide reporting for the Performance Management Program
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to employees on routine HR-related issues (e.g. recruitment, compensation, benefits, leaves, HR policy and procedures)
  • Effective and efficient Disability case management, including employee Return to Work process
  • Provide support to managers and supervisors on matters related to employee relations including discipline, corrective action, etc.
  • Assist in promoting and ensuring all communication channels are being utilized so that continuous dialogue exists among employees, supervisors and management (Open Door Policy)
  • Take a lead role to champion and execute projects as assigned
  • Participate in all HR related meetings, including Joint Health & Safety meetings, WHY meetings, etc.)
  • Act within the company philosophy.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Functional Requirements:

  • Post secondary HR certification; CHRP/CHRL designation preferred
  • At least 3 years HR generalist experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with HRIS systems, preferably ADP’s WorkForce Now
  • Very good understanding of general human resources practices, policies and procedures
  • Must have sound knowledge of employment laws, Occupational Health & Safety Act, regulations and compliance
  • Must be able to demonstrate initiative and follow-up skills
  • Must be willing to travel between the Brampton and Mississauga plant locations
  • Strong leadership skills to influence, mediate conflict and coach key stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Learning and Development an asset
  • Openness to periodically adjust work hours as needed, sometimes with short notice based on multi-shift operations
  • Must be able to be exposed to all species of meat
  • Ability to interact with all levels of co-workers, management and external contacts 
  • Must be computer savvy (MS Office, HRIS, etc)
