Executive Vice President, Human Resources

Great Canadian Gaming is looking for our next GREAT team member to join us as Executive Vice President, Human Resources.

Reporting to the President, Strategic Growth & Chief Compliance Officer, the Executive Vice President, Human Resources (EVP, HR) will be a key member of an experienced, high performing executive team. The EVP, HR is responsible for the strategic planning, direction, development and implementation of a comprehensive range of human resources programs for the Company. This role continually adds value by delivering thought leadership and using best practices to build a high-performance culture while supporting operational excellence. Additionally, this position ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and provides a positive, professional and learning environment for all team members. This position will be based in Ontario.

Duties and responsibilities for the next Executive Vice President, Human Resources will include:

  • Partners with the executive team to ensure superior business outcomes by designing human resources programs that support Great Canadian’s strategies in collaboration with site human resources and operations leads
  • Leads organization-wide human resources strategic initiatives from current state to the desired future state through idea generation, planning, design, implementation and evaluation
  • Drives talent management efforts (performance, talent assessment and succession planning) in support of building Great Canadian’s talent pool
  • Coordinates with operational and human resources leadership to drive the advancement of strategies related to talent management (recruitment, onboarding, performance management, development, succession planning), labour relations, total rewards and occupational health and safety
  • Responsible for performance management, coaching and professional development of direct reports
  • Develops the Company’s succession management process and plan in conjunction with the executive, operational and human resources leadership teams
  • Analyzes data, identify trends and recommends solutions to improve team member satisfaction, performance and retention
  • Provides leadership and guidance to shared services human resources, total rewards, payroll and leadership and development teams to ensure these areas are undergoing constant process improvement and increasing process efficiency
  • Key contributor to the Compensation Committee of the Board, oversees annual preparation of Management Information Circular and participates as a member of the Company’s Disclosure Committee
  • Coordinates policy reviews and analysis including developing and implementing new policies in consultation with executive, operational and human resource leadership teams
  • Monitors and communicates emerging human resources trends and issues as they relate to Great Canadian
  • Provides guidance for human resources operating budgets as they relate to shared services human resources programs
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with the executive team, senior management, Board members, regulatory bodies, external and internal guests and operational leads across all properties of the Company
  • Champions and participates in events for the Company’s PROUD program
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Develops, directs and manages other initiatives as required

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in human resources or related discipline, Masters level desired
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation preferred
  • Minimum ten years of experience with a proven track record of success as a strategic and creative organizational leader in roles that have involved responsibility for strategic Human Resources and Labour Relations delivery in a complex operational environment (unionized and non-unionized)
  • Proven track record of developing high performance cultures and directly contributing to the enhancement of the overall business results
  • Deep subject matter expertise and a comprehensive understanding of progressive Human Resources policies, strategies and processes, and related legal context
  • Demonstrated ability to influence the business in a decentralized environment
  • Proven expertise in the area of talent management and organization development with a track record of successfully implementing and sustaining these programs
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and mentoring with strong interest in development of others
  • Approachable leader who has proven to be an exceptional influencer with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal), interpersonal and guest service skills
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Ability to obtain gaming registration in multiple jurisdictions – comprehensive background checks and disclosure of personal and financial information directly to gaming regulators required
