Reporting to the Senior Director, HR Consulting, the Manager, Talent Acquisition will lead the design and delivery of recruitment strategies and activities to support the organization’s talent requirements.  Working in partnership with stakeholders across the Human Resources and client teams, the Manager will serve as a champion in process improvement and lead the development and implementation of innovative and best practice strategies, policies and programs in alignment with the achievement of our people strategy.

This is a network-wide role and the successful incumbent will be expected to travel and work across all sites of Unity Health Toronto (St. Michael’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Providence Healthcare).

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops and executes a multi-faceted talent acquisition advertising & branding strategy to source and acquire talent to meet organizational needs, including leveraging social media and other traditional and non-traditional methods.
  • Actively champions continuous improvement in the recruitment and selection process for Unity Health Toronto, including the use of innovative best practices and technology enablers to deliver an exceptional experience for all stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership and expertise for all recruitment and selection related activities for both union and non-union jobs, including strategies for candidate testing, interview tools and selection criteria.
  • Leads the development of harmonized recruitment policies and processes across the network, including assessing for best practices and ensuring the input of all key stakeholders.
  • Ensures recruitment and selection processes for all positions are aligned with the respective collective agreements, policies, procedures, and all current legislation.
  • Develops and monitors a set of key performance indicators/metrics for the recruitment team (ex. time to fill, probationary termination rate). Makes recommendations and develops strategies to ensure achievement of target metrics.
  • Manages all external contracts and vendor relations related to recruitment activities.
  • In collaboration with HR and stakeholders across the organization, participates in the development of a corporate strategic workforce plan, including the development of associated programs to address short and long term talent needs.
  • Leverages the use of data and analytics to support recruitment initiatives.
  • Acts as the organizational expert for work permit and immigration related issues & manages applications for work permits under programs such as the Temporary Foreign Worker program.
  • Responsible for the ongoing design and maintenance of all employment-related contract templates, including but not limited to offer letters, transfer letters and secondment agreements with 3rd party organizations.
  • Works collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to develop creative and thoughtful strategies and approaches to address individual department recruitment and workforce planning requirements in partnership with the HR team.
  • Identifies and monitors internal and external trends affecting the workforce & the organization. Proactively communicates workforce planning issues or developments which may impact the organization’s ability to attract and retain the required talent.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a recognized Bachelor’s Degree program in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or recognized equivalent required.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive Human Resources management experience, demonstrating advancing scope and responsibility.
  • Experience within the healthcare and/or public sector is strongly preferred.
  • Significant leadership experience in a large organization preferably in roles with multisite complexity.
  • CHRP strongly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of recruitment and selection principles and processes, including leading and innovative practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency leading and working within a unionized environment.
  • Expert  knowledge of principles of strategic workforce planning.
  • Previous experience advising on work permits and other immigration related matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., Ontario Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Various Bills and Acts.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems with the ability to generate reports and analyze data
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving/critical thinking skills with the ability to resolve complex issues/recommend solutions required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications and customer service skills to work effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Effective coaching and influencing skills with the ability to foster cooperation and work collaboratively within and across departments with a broad range of interests in a highly diverse work environment required.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to quickly assimilate the network’s philosophy, culture, mission, values, goals and objectives into the daily approach to recruitment management required.
  • Proficient in the use of computer equipment for word processing, preparing budget/spreadsheet, etc., required.
  • Ability to facilitate effective teamwork among staff required.
