Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources (HR) Assistant provides day to day administrative support on a wide variety of human resources matters including HR projects, administration, research, recruitment, HR data and records. With a dotted line reporting to the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety, the HR Assistant also provides support on a variety of health and safety matters.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) Designation in progress as an asset
- 1.5 years of experience in a human resources department, preferably as a generalist
- Working knowledge of human resources and occupational health and safety related legislation
- Able to handle sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy
- Exercise a high level of confidentiality and discretion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Relationship building and collaboration with excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with updating and maintaining websites is ideal
- Excellent computer skills with at least intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Payroll knowledge and previous experience is an asset
