Under the general direction of the Associate Director and the Superintendent of Human Resources, the Leadership and Staff Development Officer ensures the implementation of appropriate leadership and staff development initiatives for the District, including supporting the development and implementation of a comprehensive leadership strategy, developing and implementing a staff development strategy for administrative and support staff, overseeing orientation programs for new staff, including the induction programs for new teachers and early childhood educators in alignment with Ministry expectations. 

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Human Resources Management, Education leadership or a related discipline, and at least 5 years of staff and leadership development experience; including experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), presentation, project management, leadership skills, as well as a high degree of creativity, tact and judgement;
  • Knowledge of the principles of leadership development and adult education as well as legislative and regulatory training requirements relevant to the education sector;
  • Strong coordination, planning and facilitation skills required;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff, multiple projects and committees
