Reporting to the Commissioner of Corporate Services, The Director, Human Resources is the chief HR professional in the corporation and leads the development and implementation of cutting-edge human resources strategies. The Director attracts and engages the best talent to competitively position the organization and support and enable the City’s Strategic Plan and delivery of services. As a member of the Corporate Services Leadership Team and as a trusted advisor to the City Manager, Commissioners, and Council, the Director carries forward the successful integration of key initiatives with a team of 70 staff including the implementation of the City’s new People Strategy.

With your university degree and CHRL (preferred), you possess more than 10 years of progressively senior human resources experience gained within a complex unionized organization. Labour relations is an area of expertise for you as you’ve participated in the collective bargaining process. You have demonstrated the ability to forge relationships, foster collaboration, and lead transformational change. You are skilled at presenting to senior teams, councils/boards, and large public audiences. Your track record includes modernizing human resources to support organizations through growth and change as well as thinking strategically and executing strategy.
