We continue to grow and today are looking for a committed, talented, star to join our team as a Sr People and Values Generalist.

 

Position Summary: 

The Senior People and Values (Human Resources) Generalist works closely with the People and Values Manager and the rest of the People and Values team and is passionate about delivering human resources programs by helping to build and maintain an employee-focused, highly motivated, high performance organization.

The Senior People and Values Generalist provides leadership and program support for the Human Resources function including full-cycle recruitment, development and facilitation of in-house training, employee relations, and enhancing the employee experience. Some of the key projects for this role will be managing the implementation, execution and maintenance of an Attendance Management system, and working with the rest of the People and Values team to implement and manage corporate Employee Wellness and Earth programs. They will watch the details of the day to day functions of the People and Values Department and follow up ensuring consistency and best practices are followed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Internal and External Compliance:

Be a point of contact for office and production employees. Monitor and update employee files and ensure they are compliant with necessary documentation and training records Stay up to date on new and existing legislation to ensure we’re compliant and make recommendations to the Manager, People and Values Work with the supervisors to monitor and address attendance concerns and develop, implement and use a tool to monitor culpable and non-culpable absenteeism Monitor absenteeism and follow up when needed Manage disability claims and regularly stay in touch with employees who are off work

Employee Relations:

Working with the People and Values team, manage the strategic corporate Wellness Program and Earth Program initiatives  Conduct regular plant visits to engage with employees and supervisors on the floor. Work with the supervisors to resolve issues and concerns with the production employees, escalate to the Manager, People and Values when necessary Facilitate termination meetings as needed with the Department Manager and prepare the necessary paperwork Draft progressive coaching letters for production employees to be approved by the Supervisor and Manager, People and Values

Recruitment:

Full-cycle recruitment for various positions in selected departments. Use creative ways to attract the best talent for the organization. Develop a recruitment plan for difficult to fill positions using creativity, research and insight. Attend job fairs in the community and at colleges/universities, community centres. Work with a high sense of urgency and professionalism Work with the People and Values team to organize and execute corporate job fairs throughout the year

Training and Development:

Develop and update an Employee Training Metrics and ensure we’re compliant with our legislative requirements With the Managers/Supervisor, develop training and development plans for employees Work on special projects with the People and Values Manager and the rest of the People and Values team

Health and Safety:

Attend the Joint Health and Safety meetings and bring any HR concerns forward Be an employee advocate when it comes to anything health and safety related

Other:

Demonstrate and uphold Riverside’s core values Consistently consider best practices and how we can enhance the employee experience Track metrics re: recruitment, turnover, results from employee surveys, exit interviews Other duties as assigned

This position reports to the People and Values Manager

Skills & Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to not be intimidated by employees and management and to uphold Human Resources best practices. Escalate issues when necessary to the Manager, People and Values Strong values system and acts with integrity, honesty and empathy at all times with the ability to develop and nurture strong relationships throughout the organization Undergraduate degree or post-graduate diploma in HR or a related degree (or equivalent education & experience) Good knowledge of company policies, the ESA and employment law and acts and speaks with discretion 3-5 years of experience in a human resources role, up to two years at the Generalist level, in a manufacturing environment CHRP designation or equivalent Passionate about pursuing Human Resources as a career
