Position Information
Reporting to the Manager, Total Compensation, the Officer, Pension and Benefits is the subject matter expert who administers The Ottawa Hospital’s benefits and pension plans.
Basic Requirements
- Three-year college diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field;
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in human resources, with at least three (3) years in pension and benefits administration;
- Experience with interpretation and application of collective agreement provisions;
- Knowledge of Federal and Provincial legislation around pension and benefits, including the Ontario Employment´s Standards Act (ESA);
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills and problem solving skills;
- Strong communication and writing skills are required to deal effectively with all work related contacts, as well as to support the development of presentations, briefing notes, communications to staff, etc.;
- Strong investigative skills to resolve issues with employee pension and benefits, to grievances/arbitration, etc.;
- Team player with proven ability to manage change, pressure and deadlines in a very fast-paced environment;
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Ability to organize work effectively to deal with multiple demands and changing priorities;
- Ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, initiative, tact and a high degree of confidentiality;
- Ability to organize and compile data and work with large amount of detail and produce concise and accurate reports;
- Experience working with extracting data from an HRIS (PeopleSoft, SAP, etc).
Preferred Qualifications
- Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute (CPBI) Ontario Benefits Certificate;
- Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
