Reporting to the Director, Compensation the Manager, Executive Compensation & Governance will be accountable for OMERS compensation governance including participation in the creation of plan documents, compensation policy design, board reporting and the annual risk assessment. In addition to compensation governance, you will be responsible for the Senior Executive Team compensation including plan review and the annual compensation cycle.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

• Ensuring governance review of all compensation programs and partner with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to ensure all components meet OMERS requirements, strategic direction and complies with regulatory, tax, legal, accounting and operational frameworks
• Developing needs-specific modeling, analysis, and compensation decision tools and templates for both end users and the Enterprise HR team. Ensuring efficiency and effectiveness with the intent streamlining of compensation processes
• Participating in the development of compensation reports and recommendations for Human Resources Committee review and approval. Committee agenda items include Board education sessions, business performance metrics review, plan design and implementation, compensation forecasting and other governance reports
• Responsible for annual compensation disclosure, including Compensation Analysis & Discussion and associated disclosure in the Consolidated Financial Statements
• Accountable for the market intelligence process for the Senior Executive Team including contributing to surveys, monitoring and analyzing trends, proxy analysis and creating reports. Making recommendations where data suggests opportunities for continuous improvement exists
• Participating in the Annual Risk Assessment process for determining compensation adjustments for all relevant compensation plans
• Partnering with the HR Business Partners, HR Operations and other key stakeholders to lead the annual compensation cycle (Year-End) for the Senior Executive Team
• Developing strong external networks and liaises with compensation peers in other organizations/industries to share compensation information and exchange best practices.
• Communicating effectively to all levels of the organization, and supports recommendations with credible research & analysis
• Maintaining and improving existing tools/templates

To succeed in this role, you have:

• Post-secondary degree and/or the equivalent combination of education/experience/training. A CCP designation would be an asset, although not required
• 8-10 years of progressive compensation experience with preference given to those in a technical compensation lead role
• Demonstrate application and knowledge of compensation theories and practices
• Excellent mathematical and quantitative analysis skills with the ability to calculate a variety of financial and compensation modeling
• Ability to translate detailed analysis and problem solving capability to results based recommendations
• Advanced organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects, managing tight timelines and competing priorities
• Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade at all levels of the organization
• Broad based business knowledge and familiarity with OMERS and its subsidiaries
• Knowledge of financial services industry/business an asset
• Solid knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
