TOTAL REWARDS ANALYST (HUMAN RESOURCES) - Extendicare Corporate Office

Candidates are invited to apply for the position of Total Rewards Analyst, located at our Corporate Office, located in Markham, Ontario.

The Total Rewards and Analytics (TRA) portfolio is a Shared Service, providing expert knowledge and support across all Extendicare companies, which operate in eight provincial jurisdictions.  Reporting to the Director of Total Rewards and Analytics, the Total Rewards Analyst researches, analyzes and participates in the development of Extendicare’s total rewards programs.  The position supports the design, implementation and communication of the organization’s compensation, benefit and other reward programs.  The incumbent provides service to internal HR stakeholders with respect to Total Rewards programs and acts as a subject matter expert.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • Conducts research in support, and participates in the design, implementation and communication, of TRA programs for Extendicare.
  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations for policy and program changes within TRA’s scope, as well as annual increments and other policy (in the case of Compensation surveys)  
  • Conducts/participates in surveys in the area of Total Rewards.
  • With the Director, participates in or leads the HR component of annual processes attached to the Total Rewards area, including annual budgeting processes and salary reviews.
  • Represents the organization in HR peer networks related to TRA.
  • Works with and provides direction under the supervision of the Director, to third-party partners of Extendicare in the TRA scope including service providers, consultants and third-party administrators.
  • Liaises effectively with a variety of external contacts including insured benefit, retirement savings and other Total Rewards plan providers, relevant private and governmental program providers, government ministries, unions and employer associations
  • Works closely with other Extendicare functions, both at Corporate Office and in the field, and with employees at all levels, in furtherance of departmental goals
  • Participates in or leads projects as assigned.

Compensation-Specific

  • Validates job requirements by collecting appropriate job documentation and when necessary interviewing knowledgeable persons.
  • Participates in the development of enhancements to Extendicare job evaluation systems and evaluates and ranks jobs using these systems as appropriate.
  • Provides recommendations for salary adjustments for a variety of day-to-day situations including new hires, transfers, demotions, responsibility pay, bonus programs etc.

Benefits-Specific

  • Provides expertise for the design, implementation and communication of statutory, insured benefits, retirement savings, profit sharing and bonus, and self-administered benefits plans, as well as plans/programs in other areas of Total Rewards, such as EAPs.
  • Provides analytical support for benefits contracts and renewal processes, cost containment initiatives, budgeting and financial statements for insured benefits/retirement savings programs.
  • Identifies potential improvements to administrative systems/processes and service delivery mechanisms attached to the delivery of benefits programs within Extendicare. 

Analytics-Specific

  • Supports projects as assigned by applying knowledge and technical expertise with respect to collecting, organizing, analyzing and presenting data.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An undergraduate degree in Human Resources or a related discipline from recognized educational institution or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the compensation and/or benefits/retirement savings fields (experience in both compensation and benefits functions strongly preferred, as is experience in benefits in both insured benefits and in retirement savings plans, including DB and DC pension plans).
  • CHRP/CHRL; CEBS or other equivalent designation (completed or in progress) an asset;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel a must, knowledge of MS Powerpoint, Access and MS Project definite assets. Working knowledge of other products in the MS Office Suite.
  • Advanced knowledge of HRMIS preferred.
  • Expert analytical skills with a strong detail orientation.
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively both verbally, and in writing

  • Customer-focused attitude, with the ability to understand, anticipate and identify customer needs while using information to provide the best-individualized service.

  • Proven integrity through open and honest interactions with colleagues and encourages active participation and     commitment from others in the pursuit of common goals; understand roles, sets expectations, shares information to build consensus.
