We are now hiring a full-time Human Resources Assistant position, available at our New Hamburg location.

Shift Details:  Full-time position, salary based on 40 hours per week – start time is flexible.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor compensation data to maintain internal equity, pay equity and compliance to policies, procedures and any applicable legislation
  • Assist with creating new job descriptions and updating outdate descriptions
  • Assist HR Manager with job evaluations, job fact sheets, and creation of salaried job offers
  • Gather and conduct research and create reports when required
  • Assist V.P of Human Resources and Payroll Supervisor during company pay increases.
  • Conduct monthly audits and ensure accuracy and consistency within our systems
  • Assist HR Administrator with security cards and input employee info into ‘Solomon’ system.  Responsible for producing various company and terminal security cards on an on-going basis as well as annual terminal updates. Place orders for cards and co-ordinate renewals and employee access with Security Manager.
  • Monitor Pay Equity legislation and notify Corporate HR Manager of any updates/changes
  • Maintain and distribute new employee package(s) and guides when required. 
  • Assist HR Generalist with new content and updating of existing information in Management Resources
  • Work in conjunction with Corporate Planning Committee
  • Responsible for various clerical and administrative functions for department when required
  • Become knowledgeable with HR Infinium system and provide reports when required
  • Maintain a wide variety of compensation information, files and records in written and electronic formats for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Assist with coordination and facilitation of various training
  • Back up for staff on vacation etc. i.e. postings, announcements,
  • All other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources diploma or degree
  • HR designation or working towards HR designation is an asset
  • 1 year experience in the Human Resources field. Previous experience in the trucking industry is an asset
  • Accuracy and  confidentiality is a must
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize work, sometimes with conflicting priorities
  • Attention to detail, being organized and a positive team player
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Good judgement, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Analytical thinking, organizational awareness, and high initiative
  • High level of personal maturity and excellent inter-personal skills required
  • Compensation knowledge / experience would be an asset.
